Soft and subtle. Yet chaotic, in its own way! Very different from the other countries I had travelled to. Maybe, it was the air that inhabited it, or perhaps the way the wind felt on my face. India had its own warmth, its own colour.
And it’s quite incredible how time flies by. It was only last year when I was debating the perfect trip to India! We all crave for that perfect tid-bit in our life. Most of the times, its travel that offers us that sense of triumph!
With all this and much more, I opted for Western India Travel Guide which includes Goa, Maharashtra and Gujarat. What tempted me was much more than the search for exotic locations, dealing with picturesque vistas, highlands, quaint hamlets and dazzling beaches. It was originality, in its true essence.
Less is more, I strongly believe in. I was not in a hurry. West India trip did not mean visiting every tourist hotspot at once without taking a deep breath. After all, what’s the charm left in it, then? I wanted to be taste the essence of destinations, one at a time. Wanted to narrate the untold story of India, in a way it was never done before.
Maharashtra, definitely the sparkling jewel of West India Tourism, is known for several tourist attractions, like Mumbai, Ajanta and Ellora Caves, Shirdi, Konkan Coast, Tadoba National Park , Matheran and Nashik.
But my tailor-made West India holiday packages were different. I started off with Shani Shignapur, a quiet little village, where Hindu planet God Saturn is prayed. There’s nothing interesting to tell you that India has several Gods you know it, or perhaps have the slight idea of it. But what if I told you, the villagers in this hamlet do not lock their houses. Yes, they don’t!
Then I headed on for Kalavantin Durg, one of the world’s most dangerous fortresses in Maharashtra. It is also called as Prabalgad Fort and is located between Panvel and Matheran. I did not know the magnitude with which the beauty and vastness of the picturesque bird’s eye view silently waited for me. Known as the trekker’s paradise, words cannot do justice to it. You need to see it to believe it.
Later, I headed on for Kamshet a must-visit destination for adventure seekers. In addition, you can also shoot your adventure, live in action. Few adrenaline-gushing activities include paragliding, trekking, rock-climbing, boating, angling and fishing.
In the end, I headed towards Igatpuri, located 2 hours away from Mumbai. Untouched by industrialization, it did feel like going back in time, perhaps the ancient man’s age. Lovely, was the word for it!
Thus, with a rendezvous with these unheard destinations in Maharashtra, I felt fulfilled. It somehow felt knowing a part of myself. Also, because, my West India holiday package was bespoke.
In a nutshell, it’s the journey that makes the difference. Especially, how you do it. So, in case you too are planning to explore India, do it in a special manner. For sure! Kudos!
